Lower the Total Cost of System Ownership
Engineering productivity has often been elusive in the development of Oil & Gas SCADA applications. This is further compounded when multiple development groups are involved. With the Wonderware SCADA solution, devices and assets used throughout the Oil & Gas SCADA environment can be modeled as object templates. Once they are configured, they can be reused throughout the entire system for any other similar device. This saves a tremendous amount of time when adding new wells or other monitoring stations because engineers can reuse the template that contains all of the information necessary for control, such as scripts, alarms and communication methods. This technique can also greatly improve system reliability because the templates are already field-proven.
Broaden Field Communications
Wonderware recognizes that an Oil & Gas SCADA system must connect to existing field devices such as RTUs and PLCs. By collaborating with third-party product developers, Wonderware offers a remarkably large selection of device integration servers and protocols.
These communications servers operate over TCP/IP and serial networks supporting dial-up, radio, microwave and satellite communications. They support Modbus, Fisher ROC, Kimray and other protocols and offer online configuration, demand scans, on/off scan, interleaving EFM, real-time polling and comprehensive communications statistics. EFM data is collected and stored in standard measurement system formats such as Coastal Flow and PGAS. Wonderware also offers more than 300 custom interfaces for PLC and DCS systems.
Add to Existing Systems Without Interrupting Current Operations
Wonderware develops and supports software that is not designed for any specific vendor's RTU or PLC hardware. Therefore, Wonderware SCADA software solutions are truly vendor-neutral, giving the SCADA company the power to choose the software and hardware that works best for them. This inherent flexibility, combined with the multitude of third-party vendors that create device integration servers for use with Wonderware products, allows us to connect to any system or hardware you might have.
This capability allows for complete testing and simulation. When complete, the system can be switched to run-time mode and brought online with just a click of the mouse, without affecting existing operations.
