Wonderware Historian
(formerly IndustrialSQL Server)
Wonderware has made changes to the IndustrialSQL Server (InSQL) product line to better communicate Wonderware’s ability to provide a complete solution for the Performance Management Marketplace. As a part of this, the InSQL 9.0 Product has been re-named to Wonderware Historian 9.0, with three additions; Personal, Standard and Enterprise. Wonderware Historian 9.0 is functionally equal to InSQL 9.0, with the additional capability of the Wonderware Information Server, which is included at no extra charge with the Historian Standard and Enterprise Editions.
Information Server 3.0 (formerly SuiteVoyager 3.0) greatly improves the web-based graphic and reporting capabilities of the Wonderware Historian. User feedback has indicated that the Information Server 3.0 provides the functions and example reports that complement the Wonderware Historian and fully meets the needs of Performance Management solutions.
Furthermore, the increased value delivered with InSQL 9.0 in advanced data storage filter (compression), retrieval modes and on the fly data aggregations further positions InSQL as a true plant historian as well a manufacturing production database. Furthermore, InSQL does not store time-series data in MS SQL Database Tables, but instead uses a highly optimized historical archive separate from the embedded SQL Server Database. The name change into Wonderware Historian and the now included Information Server capabilities underlines this positioning.
For existing InSQL Customers, the new Wonderware Historian License contains all of the ease of use, lower cost of ownership, and openness you have come to expect from Wonderware Software products. This name change is a continuation in the investment you have already made in Wonderware products.
Which Wonderware products are positioned for the Historian and Performance Management Markets?
The market traditionally served by historian and plant information management products has become more sophisticated in recent years. There are really four Wonderware product sets that that are positioned for this space. Customers can start at any level or build upon one solution as needed.
- Level 1: Wonderware Historian Personal Edition - An excellent addition to InTouch where a customer wants an Historian-only solution for data archiving, reporting and analysis.
- Level 2: Wonderware Historian Standard & Enterprise Editions – For applications that need web-based reporting and analysis built into a world-class plant-wide or multi-plant Historian.
- Level 3: Wonderware System Platform- For applications that build upon the Wonderware Historian and leverage real-time calculations, application data modeling, and historical data management in a highly productive and repeatable ArchestrA technology based, engineering environment.
- Level 4: Wonderware Functional Modules and QuickStarts- Adds specific solutions for Production and Performance Management or GeoSCADA on top of the Wonderware System Platform.
