Gain Real-Time Insight into Production and Equipment Performance

Accelerate Productivity Improvement Initiatives for Greater Profitability

Wonderware Historian— is designed to collect a wide variety of plant data, at full resolution and very high data rates, ensuring that plant decision-makers at all levels will have the data they need to drive vital plant productivity improvement initiatives.

Generate Actionable Information for Faster, More Accurate Decision-Making

Advanced data retrieval modes found in the Wonderware Historian enable plant personnel to quickly generate the detailed, focused information needed to accelerate the decision-making process and provide access to the right information when a problem is identified or an opportunity uncovered. Data retrieval modes such as time-in-state, best fit, time-weighted average, integral, slope, counter and others can reduce queries to a few lines and deliver the targeted information that decision-makers need to improve plant performance and productivity.

Manage Critical Plant Data

The Wonderware Historian Is Designed for the Factory and Plant Floor

The Wonderware Historian is hundreds of times faster than standard database systems and saves data in a small fraction of the space. Conventional relational database technology is not suited to the demanding plant-floor environment. Whereas, the Wonderware Historian combines front-end, high-speed data collection with time-series extensions to an embedded Microsoft SQL Server relational database. The "swinging-door" data storage algorithm, pioneered by Invensys' Foxboro business unit, greatly reduces data storage requirements while preserving important data features. It also fully integrates event, summary and production data along with database configuration information.

Scalable for Any Application

Wonderware Historian is fully scalable to meet the data demands of even the largest plants. The Historian's broad scalability enables plant personnel to begin by creating small applications and then expand them over time in a controlled and systematic manner.

Unite Disparate Manufacturing Systems

Leverage Wonderware's Industry-Leading Connectivity for Unparalleled Access to Plant Data

The Wonderware Historian can connect to hundreds of field devices and plant systems using a wide range of communication options including:

  • NetDDE;
  • OPC;
  • Wonderware’s SuiteLink™ protocol; and
  • Industry-standard SQL and ODBC database connectivity.

Data from virtually any field device, plant system or database can be acquired and stored in a single plant-wide data repository, furnishing real-time and historical plant data to users throughout the manufacturing enterprise.

Integrate Plant Data with Business Systems for Enhanced Plant Performance

The Wonderware Historian is tightly integrated with Wonderware's Industrial Application Server, which offers the important benefit of integrated plant, ERP and business data via reusable bi-directional data calculations and event-detection objects. Wonderware also offers consulting services and a cadre of certified system integrators available to assist in any type of plant-floor to business system integration effort.

Low-Cost Administration

Ready for Immediate Implementation and Use Out of the Box

Designed as a "shrink-wrapped" solution, the Wonderware Historian installs quickly and can collect valuable plant data immediately. Wonderware is known throughout the industry as a leader in providing industrial software that is easy to setup and use. The Wonderware Historian is no exception. Implementation time is minimized and ROI maximized.

Highly Integrated with other Wonderware Applications for the Lowest Total Cost of Ownership

An entire plant database using Wonderware Historian software can be configured with a simple setting within the Industrial Application Server. System modifications can be made while the historian is operating with no data loss. Microsoft Management Console technology is used to simplify configuration and facilitate remote maintenance of a Wonderware Historian database. The Historian's management console can be added to the Wonderware System Management Console (SMC) to provide a centralized configuration and maintenance environment for an entire plant supervisory and performance management system — significantly reducing the cost of system ownership.

Reliable Performance

Field Proven Historian for Dependable Service in Any Application

Used in dozens of industries in every corner of the globe, Wonderware Historian is field-proven in hundreds of different applications. With more than 20,000 installations worldwide since its introduction in 1997, the Wonderware Historian is one of the world's most popular plant data historians.

ArchestrA Productivity and Lifecycle Savings

Wonderware is the only vendor to offer an open real-time and historical data management system using a single integrated configuration and development environment that spans distributed supervisory control and historical databases. Information application development is based on reusable, self-replicating objects that encapsulate tags, events, calculations, condition scripts, database connections and other information system functions. A single tag namespace provides built-in robustness capabilities to handle failures, without additional configuration. The Wonderware Historian also offers the only hybrid relational/real-time historian with all the openness of a pure SQL Server solution, but all the strength of a proprietary, high-performance plant historian.
