Wonderware and Microsoft: A Longstanding Relationship

Read more about our alliance! Wonderware's relationship with Microsoft began in 1987 when Wonderware developed the first industrial human-machine interface based on the Microsoft Windows platform. Since then, Wonderware has remained dedicated to providing robust, easy-to-use industrial software based on Microsoft technology. Microsoft provides support to Wonderware in the form of architectural guidance, design and development support, technical support, product roadmap coordination and scalability testing of Wonderware software. Because of its longstanding relationship with Microsoft, Wonderware has access to Microsoft’s ongoing development plans, provides feedback on features needed for manufacturing and the suitability of certain system features and functions for the manufacturing market. The result is high-quality software coordinated with the Microsoft development roadmap, conceived to work on and thoroughly tested with Microsoft software.

The Invensys/Microsoft Alliance

In October 2003, Microsoft and Wonderware’s parent company, Invensys plc, announced a strategic alliance to merge Invensys' strengths in process and manufacturing applications and expertise in key industry segments with Microsoft’s platform, technology and enterprise solutions. The alliance combines the strengths of Invensys in process and manufacturing applications and its expertise in key industry segments with Microsoft’s platform, technology and enterprise products. The alliance will continue to drive a new generation of Invensys solutions to provide manufacturers with real-time visibility into their plant environments and supply chains. Together, Microsoft and Invensys have been investing resources to optimize the development of Invensys applications, systems and solutions by building those systems utilizing Microsoft technologies.
