Wonderware VAR/OEM Program
Wonderware has a long history of helping its VAR and OEM customers bring more efficient solutions to market. The Wonderware® VAR/OEM Program concentrates on the specific needs of the VAR and OEM market and its products, to address customer requirements.
Definitions
What Is A Value-Added Reseller (VAR)?
- Machine Builder: A company that produces, more or less, the same type of machine again and again using a "cookie cutter" approach. This company will have standardized primarily on Wonderware products, and offers them as standard on its machines.
- Solution Builder: Similar to a system integrator, this type of company uses a domain-specific market approach and has developed solution(s) for that market based on Wonderware offerings. This type of VAR sells solution(s) and customizes them to meet customers’ requirements. For example, if this company’s domain expertise is in the Food & Beverage industry, it will not be marketing the company or its solutions in the Transportation market.
What Is An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)?
An OEM is a company that builds solution(s) based on Wonderware® products and promotes them in the marketplace as its own. OEM companies are likely to re-brand the Wonderware products as their own, to the extent that the end-user may not even know that Wonderware products are contained in their offerings.
Program Tiers
Wonderware has developed a three-tiered system* to encourage and reward loyalty from Wonderware VARs and OEMs. Each tier provides a range of benefits geared towards the requirements of our VAR and OEM customers.
Product Certification
Program participants at any level who make a commitment to Wonderware technology by achieving product-level certification will receive several additional benefits, such as:
- Invitations to participate in pre-release software evaluations
- Access to the Solution Provider Resource Center
- Rights to use the Wonderware Expert Knowledgebase Search Tool
These programs are designed to enable your business to stay ahead of the competition. Certified providers can also receive additional product price benefits.

* VARs and OEMs that are just beginning to develop products and are interested in creating solutions based on Wonderware software may qualify as an Emerging Wonderware VAR or OEM. Emerging status entitles the VAR or OEM to use Wonderware development software on a consignment basis for a limited time without a volume purchase commitment.
